Club
Chairman & Coach
Rob
Evison
Rob
first became involved in netball in the early sixties through
his wife Pat who played at a high level for her University, Club
and County. Rob passed his preliminary coaching and umpiring
awards in 1963 before moving to North Hampshire in 1964 and
passing his intermediate coaching award in 1969.
In
1986, having had a break from netball, Rob accepted a teaching
post at Mounts Bay School which rekindled his love for the game
which led him to Penzance Netball Club and to retake his
Umpiring Grade C Award in 1990.
Rob
experienced great success at Penzance as Junior Organiser from
1992 to 2003, winning 27 out of a possible 33 Cornwall Junior
League trophies and supporting eight Penzance Junior and Youth
squads of varying ages to National Club Finals. Robs proudest
achievement during this period was his U16 squad finishing third
in 1997 in Sittingbourne. He was also involved heavily
throughout this period with various Cornwall County Junior and
Youth Squads and is still involved today with the County West
Region U13 Squad.
After some guest coaching with Connect in the summer of 2003,
Rob left Penzance and accepted the invitation to become Head
Coach at a senior club for the first time. Connect Netball Club
has since enjoyed unprecedented success.
Rob
would like to think that he has contributed to this and is most
grateful for the tremendous support he had received from all his
players, officers and umpires over this period.
